Head's Annual Fund
Dear Friends of Queen Mary's School
As part of the celebrations to mark my final year as Head of Queen Mary's School, I am delighted to launch the Head's Annual Fund.
As part of the Woodard Corporation, Queen Mary's was founded on principles of philanthropy in 1925 on the vision of Canon Nathaniel Woodard to provide a high quality education in an actively Christian school environment. Throughout the years many generous supporters have enabled Queen Mary's to grow and develop. As recent generations of pupils have benefitted from the historic generosity and charitable commitment of others, we hope that our community will support projects in this, the first Head's Annual Fund.
Alongside Queen Mary's Friends who play a key role in raising money and bringing the school community together through events, the Head's Annual Fund will provide a different opportunity to enhance life at Queen Mary's School.
We thank you for any donation to help us with the Fund; your involvement, whether big or small, can make a meaningful impact on the continued success of Queen Mary's School.
With every good wish
Carole Cameron
Head
Become a Part of the Furniture
You may have seen the wooden chairs in the Great Hall engraved with initials of Old Maryans. These are cherished and remembered by current girls and Old Maryans alike. Now is your chance to become a 'part of the furniture' by sponsoring a new chair in the Library including a plaque with your family name or your daughter(s) name engraved. With your contribution, you are playing a direct role in improving the shared space for the entire community not only now but also for future generations of girls. The chairs are supplied by Treske, who have direct links to the school. Treske are also offering a generous discount, if you sponsor a chair, on furniture and kitchens.
Appeal target: Minimum donation of £800 per chair
22/30 chairs available
Outdoor Adventure
Queen Mary's pupils are known for doing some very adventurous things. With the River Swale on site, Outdoor Education including canoeing, climbing, river swimming, building dens, WOLF runs and overnight camps allows our pupils to face physical challenges in a safe and supportive environment, learning skills that will serve them well throughout life, both personally and professionally. We would like to update the Outdoor Adventure equipment with a set of 12 new kayaks that are an updated, broader shape to protect pupils against capsizing and new helmets, paddles and other safety equipment.
A suggested donation of £650 would buy a kayak, helmet, buoyancy aid and paddle.
Appeal Target: £10,000
Miss P's Memorial Garden
Avril Pearson, taught History at Queen Mary's for 22 years and inspired many girls to greatness as well as being a superb tutor. Miss P, with her beloved four-legged friends, Parker and Bunty at her side, was a stalwart member of staff, always ready to give wise counsel and offer pupils extra support. Following a short illness Avril passed away in 2023. To celebrate her life at Queen Mary's we would like to create a small garden with a bench outside the History classroom.
Thank you for your generous donations to Miss P's Memorial Garden. With your support, we are able to start working on this project.
Future Lionesses
As Women's football gains momentum on the world stage, it is filtering through to grassroot sports and girls' football at Queen Mary's is increasing in popularity. Pupils currently play Football as part of the PE curriculum and during multi-sports. We also offer three extra-curricular Football clubs. Therefore we are looking to commit to the long term goal of having a QM Football Club and teams and would like to invest in four FA Match Standard Goals for the astro.
Appeal Target: £1,700 per goal
